The Løgting, the parliament of the Faroe Islands, has received proposals for consulting and design services related to the renovation of the cladding on its administrative building.
Four contractors were approached to submit their bids. Once a decision is made on how to proceed, a tender will be issued, with work scheduled to commence next spring.
An inspection of the concrete structure revealed that its condition is too poor to support the direct attachment of new panels. As a result, alternative solutions will need to be explored.
Currently, glass panels are stored in the basement of a building rented from the Tórshavn Workers’ Union. These panels were removed in April and May of this year.
Before the Ólavsøka festival last year, part of one panel fell onto the walkway along Tinghúsvegur, and earlier in the summer, another panel fell from the opposite side of the building.
These glass panels were originally installed in 2006.
