Deceased individual identified as missing 80-year-old man in Troms, Norway

A deceased individual has been discovered in a search area and has been identified as an elderly man who was reported missing. This was confirmed by the operation leader of the Troms police district early Monday morning. The next of kin have been notified.

The body was located by a rescue helicopter. At this time, authorities have not determined the cause of death, but they do not suspect any foul play involved.

Search efforts began on Sunday evening after it was noted that the 80-year-old man had not returned home before dark. The family expressed concern as he had gone out for a walk earlier in the day and had not been seen since.

According to police officials, the man’s family reported him missing after they last communicated with him around 2 PM on Sunday. His vehicle was located during the search operation.

Due to poor mobile coverage in the area, search conditions were considered favorable for the operation. The rescue helicopter deployed drone teams to assist, and ground personnel were also engaged in the search efforts. Additional support came from Red Cross, Norwegian People’s Aid, Norwegian Rescue Dogs, as well as local firefighters.
