Following the last parliamentary election, it was decided that a new voting station would be established in Hoyvík. According to Jóan Petur Hentze, chair of the Tórshavn municipal electoral committee, there are several reasons for this decision.

The addition of another voting station means that more personnel will be required for ballot counting. However, part of the workforce can be drawn from the Hálsi hall.

Hentze does not express concern that the final election results for the Tórshavn municipality will be significantly delayed due to the new large voting station being added.

Close to 3,300 voters are expected to cast their votes at Hoyvík hall on Tuesday, making it the third-largest voting station in the country, following the Hálsi hall and the hall in Klaksvik. Approximately 10,600 people will vote at the Hálsi hall.
