A weather warning has been issued for strong winds expected tomorrow across many regions. A yellow and orange alert will come into effect early in the morning.

This evening, gusty easterly winds and significant rainfall are anticipated in the southern parts of the country, along with fierce wind currents in Mýrdal and Öræfi, creating hazardous travel conditions. Tomorrow morning, south-easterly gales or storm conditions will impact the area, with a strong westerly storm following in the northern regions after midday.

The forecast predicts abrupt gusts of wind on the northern coast of Snæfellsnes from around 6 AM until noon as the warm southeasterly winds pick up. There will also be stormy winds affecting northern areas, the Westfjords, and the Strandir region later in the day. Local gusts may reach speeds of 35 to 40 meters per second, particularly in Skagafjörður and Eyjafjörður.

Meteorological authorities are also warning of increased landslide risks in the western and southern parts of the country over the next few days due to heavy precipitation. There is a likelihood of rising water levels in rivers and streams, with the ground becoming waterlogged, thereby raising the potential for landslides and rockfalls.
