Tax authorities address pending reimbursement applications for 2019 in Norway

Tax authorities currently have numerous applications pending for the year 2019, which will be addressed once a decision is made regarding the reimbursements and the specific time period for those reimbursements.

This information was shared by Ruth Vang, the Minister of Welfare, in response to a question from Grim Sundstein, a member of the Parliament. Sundstein inquired about the reimbursement of labor market contributions that were paid in violation of the Nordic agreement on social security for the year 2019.

He also raised concerns about the five-year statute of limitations on such claims. Vang explained that the Ministry of Health is drafting a legislative proposal aimed at granting the authorities the ability to refund health insurance contributions that were paid during the same time period, where individuals had also been subjected to social charges in other Nordic countries.

A decision regarding the reimbursement of labor market contributions, as well as the timeframe for such actions, is expected to follow the same framework that will be used for refunding health insurance contributions.
