In Eurajoki, the collapse of two high-voltage pylons on Friday was partly attributed to structural weakening due to bracing corrosion, according to Fingrid. The company is investigating whether similar issues are present in the surrounding area.

On the same day, winds reached historically severe storm levels in the coastal waters of western Finland. In Kylmäpihlaja, the average wind speed hit a peak of 33.5 meters per second on Friday night, while in Tahkoluoto, it rose to 30.3 meters per second.

The destruction was particularly severe in Eurajoki, Rauma, and Luvia.
