Heðin Mortensen loses influence in Tórshavn’s Social Democratic Party ahead of municipal election

Heðin Mortensen has lost his influence within the Social Democratic Party, signaling that the upcoming municipal election in Tórshavn is no longer a choice between him or not. This assessment comes from Ingi Samuelsen, editor of the weekly publication from Portal.fo, who announced a voter survey conducted by spyr.fo.

Samuelsen notes that the internal conflict within the Social Democratic Party, which has resulted in four of its council members standing for the Local List, will be costly for the party. He predicts a high likelihood that the Social Democrats will lose the mayoral seat in Tórshavn in the upcoming election.

The survey reveals that Elsa Berg from the Local List is expected to receive the most votes in the Tjóðveldi party list for the Tórshavn municipal election.

According to the spyr.fo survey, both the Tjóðveldi and Social Democratic parties are projected to secure three seats each on the city council. The People’s Party, the Union Party, and the Local List are each anticipated to win two seats, while the Citizens’ List is projected to gain one seat. The survey indicates that neither the Progress Party nor the Centre Party will gain representation in the council.
