The city of Helsinki is seeking to terminate the lease agreement for the Helsinki Arena due to unpaid land rents. On October 30, the city submitted a legal action against the arena’s management company for outstanding rental payments. According to a statement from the city, the rents have been overdue since July 1, 2024, accumulating a total of €212,000.

Helsinki issued a payment reminder threatening termination on September 19, but as the rents remain unsettled, the city is now pursuing the lease’s cancellation. The Ilmala Hall has been closed since late February 2022, coinciding with Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
