Leif Larsson, legendary sports journalist and Tipsextra co-founder, passes away at 85

Leif Larsson, one of the key figures behind the iconic sports program Tipsextra, has passed away at the age of 85. He holds the record for the most matches commented on during the show’s history, with a total of 59. Known as a legendary sports journalist, Larsson was deeply involved in radio broadcasting and is particularly remembered for his extensive commentary on Tipsextra matches.

Ola Bränholm, a commentator for SVT Sports who trained under Larsson at SR Göteborg in the 1990s, remarked on his significant contributions to the field. “He is a legendary sports journalist who essentially accomplished everything in radio, and he will forever be associated with his commentary on numerous Tipsextra matches,” Bränholm noted.

Larsson co-founded the program with Lars-Gunnar Björklund in 1969 and shares the record of 59 matches with Staffan Lindeborg. His legacy in sports journalism and broadcasting has left a lasting impact on Swedish sports media.
