Icelandic mother navigates challenges of teachers’ strike impacting Akureyri schools

In Iceland, a mother of three is navigating the complexities of life during an ongoing teachers’ strike, which has closed several schools, including Lundarskóli in Akureyri. The union has accused the Skagafjörður municipality of violating strike regulations by reopening departments of the Ársal preschool on the first day of the strike, a claim that the Association of Icelandic Municipalities has refuted, asserting that staff acted within their rights to continue working.
