Deadline approaches for charges against Voislav Tordenia in Helsinki

Today marks the deadline for the decision on charges against a Russian man suspected of war crimes. Voislav Tordenia is accused of serious war crimes and other offenses connected to the conflict in Ukraine in 2014. The decision on whether to press charges has been made by Deputy National Prosecutor Jukka Rappe, and the outcome is expected today.

Should charges be filed, a trial against the 37-year-old Tordenia could commence soon. He was apprehended by Finnish authorities in the summer of 2023 while attempting to board a flight to Nice at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport. In Ukraine, he is also suspected of involvement with a terrorist organization and promoting activities of that organization.
