Three individuals injured in serious accident on County Road 33 between Fagernes and Dokka
Emergency services responded to a serious accident between Fagernes and Dokka on Wednesday morning. The road is currently closed, with no estimated reopening time.
Travelers between Dokka and Fagernes are being redirected via County Road 251 Etnedalsvegen up to Bruflat and back to Tonsåsen via Vestrevegen, before reconnecting to County Road 33. Heavy traffic is reported on Vestrevegen, which runs parallel to County Road 33, due to the collision.
Three individuals are reportedly involved in the accident and are either conscious or partially conscious. Initially, two individuals were trapped but have since been freed. One driver is said to have suffered serious injuries, while the other has moderate injuries, as confirmed by Bård Einar Hoft, the police operations leader. All injured parties are now receiving care from health services.
Significant resources have been deployed, including police, health services with air ambulances, and the fire department.
The two vehicles collided on County Road 33 near Tonsåsen, with authorities indicating that it appears to be a head-on collision. The cause of the accident remains unclear, and investigations are ongoing at the scene.
Arvid Wahlstrøm, a traffic operator with the Norwegian Public Roads Administration, stated that there is no estimate on how long County Road 33 will remain closed, suggesting it may take considerable time due to the extent of damage.
