Mjólkarvirki Búnaðarmanna to expand cheese production with new facility in Skálavík

Currently, Mjólkarvirki Búnaðarmanna only offers the cheese “Kæsa” in its product lineup. However, opportunities to expand the product range are expected in the first half of next year.

The dairy intends to commence cheese production in a newly renovated 1,000-square-meter facility in Skálavík, which has been adapted for production over the past two years.

As the cheese production is currently located in Sandoy, it is very likely that milk from the island will primarily be used in this new production process.

Once all the equipment is set up and tested, production can begin; however, it may still take some time for the finished product to reach stores.

Tony Weyhe, the manager of Mjólkarvirki Búnaðarmanna, stated that the new cheese factory in Skálavík is expected to create job opportunities in the area, with several applications already received.
