Search operation underway for missing leisure boat in Børøyfjorden near Bømlo
A search operation is underway for a missing leisure boat in Børøyfjorden near Bømlo, as confirmed by the Sør-Vest Police District. Operations leader Thomas Nordvik stated that the operation is being coordinated by the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre.
The Norwegian Society for Sea Rescue also confirmed their involvement, indicating they are on a mission related to a missing person in the area. Rescuer Linn Mathisen mentioned that a rescue vessel is currently en route as part of this operation, which has been requested by the southern Joint Rescue Coordination Centre.
The search was initiated after a report was received that a man had not returned from a planned fishing trip. His family prompted the alert. Vincent Roos, a rescue leader at the coordination center, reported that a search is in progress due to the concerning situation. The operation includes a rescue helicopter, two rescue boats, an ambulance boat, and a civilian vessel that happened to be in the vicinity when the alert was raised.
