Cultural Fund to manage film production support with increased budget in Denmark

The Cultural Fund will manage support for film production.

In the 2025 budget proposal, funding for the Cultural Fund has been increased by DKK 300,000 to enhance its operations, now that the fund will also handle film projects.

Additionally, funds intended for film advisors will be transferred from the Ministry of Social Affairs and Culture to the Cultural Fund.

One of the purposes of assigning film support management to the Cultural Fund is to ensure the principle of arm’s length, according to the Ministry of Culture.

There is also a proposal for individuals receiving artist wages or salaries from the Cultural Fund to be granted a retirement pension of 15 percent in addition to their salary.

New regulations will be established for funding related to Faroese material for children and youth.

For the first time, an allocation has been made to the Cultural Fund specifically for Faroese content aimed at children and young people, amounting to DKK 1 million in the budget proposal.

It is stipulated that no funds will be allocated to institutions with publicly financed operations.

The condition for the financial provisions related to film, pensions, and materials for children and youth is that the Parliament must approve the allocations proposed by the government in its budget proposal for 2025.
