Man sentenced to six months conditional imprisonment for sexual offenses in Faroe Islands

A 58-year-old man has been sentenced to six months of conditional imprisonment for sexual offenses. According to the ruling by the Faroe Islands Court, he is also required to complete 120 hours of community service and to provide compensation to the women he was convicted of assaulting. This compensation ranges between 5,000 and 10,000 Danish kroner for each victim.

The man was not present in court when the verdict was announced, but his attorney requested additional time to consider whether to appeal the ruling to the High Court.

The defendant was charged with committing sexual offenses against 12 women while providing treatments at his clinics in Tórshavn and Klaksvík. According to the indictment, these offenses occurred from 2018 to 2021. Given the age of the cases, the court’s ruling included conditional terms.

The prosecution had sought an eight-month unconditional sentence, however, the man pleaded not guilty. He was acquitted in some cases where the court did not find the alleged offenses to be of a sexual nature.
