Six injured in rear-end collision on Highway 4 in Pyhäjärvi

Six people were injured in a rear-end collision involving two cars on Sunday evening in Pyhäjärvi, located in Eskoperä. Joona Meriläinen, a duty fire chief from the North Ostrobothnia Rescue Service, reported that the individuals sustained varying degrees of injuries.

The rescue service received an alert about a medium-sized traffic accident on Highway 4 shortly after 9 PM. The incident involved a rear-end collision between two vehicles. Six people were transported to the hospital for further examination, four from one vehicle and two from the other. One of the cars involved was towing a trailer.

“The rescue team had to dismantle the rear-ended vehicle to extract one of the injured individuals,” Meriläinen stated to Yle late on Sunday night.

A total of three rescue units were dispatched to the scene, along with five ambulances, two medical units, and a field commander from emergency care. Police were also present at the site.

Traffic has since returned to normal at the accident location.
