Socialist Party appoints candidates for 2024 parliamentary elections in Iceland

In the lead-up to the 2024 parliamentary elections in Iceland, the Socialist Party has appointed its candidates for three electoral lists. David Thor Jonsson, a priest, will lead the party’s list in the Southwest constituency. This decision was made during a party meeting today.

In addition to Jonsson’s nomination, the party also confirmed the second and third candidates for the South Reykjavik constituency and the second to fifth candidates for the Northwest constituency. The leading candidates had previously been announced for these constituencies.

The appointed candidates are as follows:

South Reykjavik constituency: – Sanna Magdalena Mortudottir, city councilor – Karl H. Kristjansson, president of the Young Socialists and education and community affairs representative for Efling – Solveig Anna Jonsdottir, chairperson of Efling

Southwest constituency: – David Thor Jonsson, priest

Northwest constituency: – Gudmundur Hrafn Arngrímsson, chairman of the Tenants’ Association – Jonina Bjorg Magnusdottir, fish worker – Aevnar Kjartansson, radio personality – Ragnheidur Gudmundsdottir, political scientist and poet – Olafur Jonsson (nicknamed Oli “ufsi”), ship captain

The Socialist Party of Iceland is positioning itself for the upcoming elections, eager to build on current momentum within the political landscape.
