During yesterday’s football match in Fuglafjørður, police conducted speed checks, resulting in five drivers being caught for speeding. Two of these drivers were going so fast that they received a conditional suspension of their driving licenses, while three others were given points on their licenses.
Around 8 p.m. last night, traffic controls at Gøtugjógv also led to penalties, where one driver received a conditional suspension and three others accumulated points on their licenses.
Additional checks were carried out later that night. When police monitored traffic near the Kollafjørður Tunnel shortly after midnight, two more drivers were caught speeding. One received points on their license, while the other was clocked at 132 kilometers per hour. As a new driver, this individual was banned from driving.
In a separate incident, police stopped a driver on Landavegur in Tórshavn at 4 a.m., and that driver is facing charges for driving under the influence.
The duty officer at the police station in Tórshavn reported that a large number of people were in the city, necessitating police patrols. Multiple interventions were required as individuals had consumed too much alcohol.
In one notable case, a person in the city center of Tórshavn was particularly unruly and aggressive, leading to their arrest. This individual is charged with violent behavior and has been fined 1,500 Danish krone.
