Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, is set to visit Iceland tomorrow as part of the Nordic Council summit. He will participate in the fourth leadership meeting between the Nordic countries and Ukraine, where he is scheduled to meet with Iceland’s Prime Minister Bjarni Benediktsson and President Þórdís Kolbrún Gylfadóttir.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, Zelensky will address attendees at the Nordic Council’s assembly on Tuesday. There were rumors about his potential visit to Iceland ahead of the European Council summit in Reykjavík last year, but it did not materialize at that time. Icelandic officials have engaged in discussions with Zelensky in the aftermath of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, both in Ukraine and during various international meetings.
The situation remains dynamic as the summit draws nearer, with leaders from multiple nations expected to convene to address ongoing issues. Zelensky’s participation highlights Ukraine’s efforts to strengthen ties with Nordic countries amid the ongoing conflict.
