The Progress Party has announced its candidate list for the upcoming parliamentary elections in the South Constituency of Iceland. Halla Hrund Logadóttir, currently the director of energy affairs and a former presidential candidate, leads the ticket. She is followed by Sigurður Ingi Jóhannsson, the party’s chairman, in the second position, as he proposed.
Jóhann Friðrik Friðriksson, one of the three sitting MPs from the party in the constituency, occupies the third spot. Hafdís Hrönn Hafsteinsdóttir, another sitting MP from the region, has moved to Reykjavík and will now run for election there.
The list also includes Fida Abo Libdeh, an energy and environmental technology engineer, in fourth place, and Sigurður E. Sigurjónsson, a sports and youth representative, in fifth place.
The selection of candidates reflects the party’s strategic positioning ahead of the 2024 elections, as they aim to reinforce their representation in the South Constituency.
