Three electoral lists announced by Social Democratic Party for 2024 elections in Iceland

Three electoral lists for the upcoming 2024 parliamentary elections have been announced by the Social Democratic Party in Iceland. Kristrún Frostadóttir, the party leader, will head the list for the North Reykjavík constituency, a position she held in the previous elections as well. Following her on the list are Dagur B. Eggertsson, a city councilor and former mayor, in second place, and Kristján Þór Snæbjörnsson, the chairman of the Electricians’ Union, in third. Eydís Ásbjörnsdóttir, principal of the Vocational School in East Iceland, is in second place, followed by Sæunn Gísladóttir, a researcher at the University of Akureyri, in third.

Jóhann Páll Jóhannsson leads the list for South Reykjavík, alongside Ragna Sigurðardóttir, a doctor and deputy city council member, in second place. Kristján Þór Snæbjörnsson appears again in third, with Sigurþóra Steinunn Bergsdóttir, a local council member, taking the fourth position.

Guðmundur Ingi Þóroddsson, chairman of the Afstöðu (Stance) movement, is in ninth on the South Reykjavík list. He previously aimed to participate in the party primaries for the last city council elections, but was disqualified by the party’s decision-making body due to being on probation.
