Negotiations between Teacher’s Association of Iceland and government endwithout agreement

Friday 25th October 2024 on 23:03 in Iceland

Negotiations between the Teacher’s Association of Iceland and the government, along with the Association of Local Authorities, concluded this evening without reaching an agreement. Working meetings will take place over the weekend to address various issues. The next formal negotiation session is set to begin on Monday at 9 a.m., which could be crucial as it may mark the final day before strike actions commence, with strikes announced at nine schools starting Tuesday at midnight.

Monday will also see meetings with the state mediator, as negotiation teams for doctors and the government are expected to attend as well. They participated in a two-and-a-half-hour meeting today but were unable to make any progress.
