Woman sentenced to nine years for manslaughter in Järvenpää, Finland

The Eastern Uusimaa District Court has sentenced a 34-year-old woman to nine years in prison for manslaughter. Juliana Moor stabbed a man in the abdomen with a large knife, leading to the victim’s death from an aortic injury and severe blood loss. The incident occurred on June 15th at a private residence on Naavatie in Järvenpää. Police found approximately 40-year-old man with stab wounds at the scene, and despite resuscitation efforts, he died on site.

According to police reports, the group was socializing in the private home when a dispute broke out among the men, escalating into a physical altercation in the stairwell. The woman and another man present attempted to remove the victim from the residence. During the altercation, another man also lost consciousness.

Following the incident, Moor placed the knife in a dishwasher and started a wash cycle. When police arrived, they noticed the dishwasher was running and turned off the program. No DNA from the weapon was found in the forensic investigation. The woman claimed she acted in panic, fearing that child protection officials would arrive.

The prosecutor sought a minimum of ten years of unconditional imprisonment for Moor. She has denied the charges. The court’s ruling is not yet legally binding.
