Woman sentenced to nine years for manslaughter in Järvenpää, Finland

A 34-year-old woman has been sentenced to nine years in prison for manslaughter by the Eastern Uusimaa District Court. Juliana Moor stabbed a man in the abdomen with a large knife, leading to his death from damage to the aorta and severe bleeding. The incident occurred in a private residence on Naavatie in Järvenpää on June 15.

Police discovered the approximately 40-year-old victim with stab wounds in the apartment. Despite attempts to revive him, he died at the scene. Reports indicate that the group was socializing in a private home when a dispute arose among the men present, escalating to a physical altercation in the stairwell. Moor and another man in the home attempted to remove the victim from the premises, leading to a further loss of consciousness for another man during the conflict.

Following the incident, Moor placed the knife in the dishwasher and turned it on. When police arrived, they noticed the dishwasher running and switched off the cycle. No DNA evidence was found on the weapon during forensic investigation. Moor claimed she acted out of panic, fearing that child protective services might arrive.

The prosecution sought a minimum sentence of ten years of imprisonment for Moor but she denied the charges. The court’s ruling is not yet final.
