Yellow weather warning issued for southern Iceland as severe winds forecasted
A yellow weather warning is in effect in southern Iceland starting at 6 AM due to strong southeast winds. The meteorological office has issued a warning about the possibility of snow or sleet on Hellisheiði, as well as deteriorating road conditions and wind gusts reaching up to 30 meters per second near Grindavík.
The yellow warning will also apply to Faxaflói, Breiðafjörður, and the Central Highlands throughout the morning due to strong or stormy southeast winds. Drivers are advised to exercise caution, especially those using vehicles that are vulnerable to windy conditions.
The warnings will remain in effect until midday in the southern and western parts of the country, and until the afternoon for the Central Highlands. Widespread yellow warnings are expected for various regions across the country during the earlier part of the day.
