Traffic halted on Tjørnuvíkar road due to landslide in Líð region

Traffic on the Tjørnuvíkar road is currently halted.

According to the police, there has been a landslide along the Tjørnuvíkar road. The landslide occurred in the Líð region, which is the section of the road that extends from the beach about halfway up from Tjørnuvík to the plateau.

The police reported that Landverk has been notified and is on its way to the location with machinery to clear the debris.

There has been quite a bit of wind overnight; however, police have not received any reports of damage. The only incident noted by the duty officer was a report of a boat in the harbor of Hósvík that had broken loose last night.
