Finnish Air Force honors last surviving military pilot with flyover in Helsinki
The Finnish Air Force is honoring the memory of the last surviving military pilot who served in wartime with a flyover today in Helsinki. Captain (retired) Mauri Maunula was the final living military pilot who served in the war. He passed away at the age of 103 on September 14.
The tribute will feature Hornet fighter jets flying over the Good Shepherd Church in Pakila, Helsinki. The flyover will take place between 11:45 AM and 12:00 PM, timed to coincide with the memorial service.
The military aircraft will fly at an altitude of approximately 300 meters from the south to the north. The event is subject to weather conditions.
