Government Affairs Committee to address complaint against Minister Ingilín Didriksen Strøm in Denmark
This morning at 9 AM, the Government Affairs Committee is set to convene to address the complaint against Minister of Environment Ingilín Didriksen Strøm.
Committee Chairman Hans Jacob Thomsen has stated that a final decision may be reached today.
Jacob Vestergaard has filed a complaint against the Minister, accusing her of providing false information to the Parliament when she claimed that she had received no indications of issues regarding the long-term management of Bústøðir.
The initial conclusion of a unified Government Affairs Committee was that the Minister has indeed provided false information to the Parliament.
The Minister, however, does not believe that the committee has demonstrated beyond reasonable doubt that she knowingly lied.
She argues that the committee should first dismiss the case and, secondly, request the parliamentary speaker to appoint an investigative director.
In addition, a parliamentary session is taking place today where a vote will be held on the implementation of Danish party subsidy legislation in the Faroe Islands.
The regulation has never been announced in the Faroe Islands, and due to uncertainty over its validity, the Danish Ministry of the Interior deemed it appropriate to temporarily suspend the subsidy provision until the law is published in the Faroe Islands.
Political parties and lists that receive at least 1,000 votes can apply for funding. This year’s support amounts to 35 krónur and 75 øyru for each vote.
During foreign affairs committee discussions, representatives from the Social Democratic Party, the Union Party, and the Center Party supported the proposal, while representatives from the People’s Party, the Republic, and the Progress Party opposed it.
The Parliament will also consider three proposals from the Family Package introduced by the People’s Party. These proposals will subsequently be forwarded to the Finance Committee and the Culture Committee.
The session begins at 11 AM.
