Job seekers increase in Finland as unemployment rises to 279,700

At the end of September, there were 29,900 more job seekers in Finland than at the same time last year, according to the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment. The total number of unemployed job seekers reached 279,700.

In September, there were 56,200 job openings, a decrease of 53,100 compared to the previous year. Additionally, the number of employed individuals fell by 54,000 compared to the same month last year. The trend in the employment rate stood at 71.9%, which is 1.4 percentage points lower than in September of the previous year.

The Ministry’s employment statistics rely on customer registries from TE Offices and municipal experiments, while Statistics Finland’s labor force survey is based on sampled research.
