Stubb meets Scholz and Merkel during visit to Germany
President Alexander Stubb continues his two-day visit to Germany today, accompanied by his wife, Suzanne Innes-Stubb. During his visit, Stubb is set to meet with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and former Chancellor Angela Merkel. Additionally, the president will hold a bilateral meeting with Icelandic President Halla Tómasdóttir.
On Monday, the presidential couple attended the 25th-anniversary celebration of the Nordic embassies in Berlin, which also welcomed royal guests from other Nordic countries. In his speech at the event, Stubb emphasized the connections among the Nordic nations, stating, “We share a common history, a common culture, and a common language.” He lightheartedly added, “Well, Finnish is a bit different.”
Later on Monday evening, the couple attended a dinner hosted by German Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier at Bellevue Palace.
