During a search operation in Toholampi on Saturday, human remains were discovered along with clothing items, according to a statement from the Ostrobothnia police. The specifics of the remains found have not yet been disclosed to the public.

The investigation began after a hiker found a human arm on the Kuusisto training trail in Toholampi over a week ago, on Thursday. Following this finding, extensive searches were conducted by the police to locate additional items and remains, which led to more discoveries.

Authorities are currently working to identify the deceased, though the age or gender has not yet been confirmed. However, DNA samples have been obtained from the previously found arm.

Several dozen volunteers assisted in the search efforts over the weekend. The police stated that they will continue to investigate the case as a death inquiry and do not suspect foul play at this time. Despite thorough searches, there may still be items within the area that could be relevant to the case.

The police request that anyone who finds items related to the investigation report them to their tip line at 0295 415 501 or via email at [email protected]. If anyone believes they have found human remains, they are urged to contact the emergency services.
