Valmet to lay off 112 employees in Finland amid restructuring efforts

Valmet, a machinery company, will lay off 112 employees, according to a company statement. In addition, temporary positions will be terminated, with some employees retiring or transferring to other roles within the company.

In September, Valmet announced the initiation of change negotiations within its Paper business line, specifically in the Carton and Paper Factory business unit. Furthermore, this unit will undergo temporary layoffs lasting up to 90 days during the first half of 2025. At the beginning of the negotiations, the need for workforce reductions was estimated to be around 200 positions.

Valmet employs approximately 6,600 people in Finland and over 19,000 globally.
