It is always important to celebrate individuals who achieve something significant and leave a lasting impact. Media organizations often face criticism for focusing too much on negative news, potentially overlooking positive stories. Therefore, highlighting remarkable achievements and talented people is both essential and an honor.

Kirsti Husby, editor-in-chief of Adresseavisen, emphasizes the collaborative efforts between the newspaper and NRK in selecting the Trønder of the Year and Everyday Hero awards. News editor Nareas Sae-Khow from NRK Trøndelag expresses the pride in presenting these awards, stating that it is crucial for major media outlets in the region to recognize those who positively contribute to society.

Nominations for the two awards are now open, with a submission deadline set for November 3. Individuals are encouraged to suggest candidates who they believe deserve recognition, along with a brief justification for their nominations.

The search for the Trønder of the Year aims to find someone who stands out positively and has significantly marked their community, possibly placing Trøndelag on the map. Alternatively, the Everyday Hero award recognizes individuals who have selflessly made a difference through their voluntary efforts.

The awards are presented annually, typically around New Year’s, with recipients chosen for their extraordinary contributions either in the preceding year or over a longer period. All nominations received by the deadline will be evaluated by a jury, which will select five finalists in each category.

Finalists will be announced shortly before Christmas, and the public will vote to determine the Trønder of the Year, while editors will choose the Everyday Hero from the five finalists.
