Investigation continues into disappearance of Anne-Elisabeth Hagen as case against Tom Hagen closed
The case against Tom Hagen has been closed, but three other individuals remain under investigation in connection with the disappearance of Anne-Elisabeth Hagen. Authorities have emphasized that the investigation is ongoing and that they are pursuing relevant leads. One of the accused is a man in his thirties, referred to as “the crypto man,” who previously had interactions with Tom Hagen regarding cryptocurrency. Two others are linked to a stolen identity that was used to create cryptocurrency accounts meant for ransom transactions.
Anne-Elisabeth’s friend, Liv Engom, expressed disappointment over the case being dropped against Tom Hagen, while the police continue to urge anyone with information to reach out.
“Although the investigation against Tom Hagen is concluded, it is important to note that the overall investigation into the case is far from over,” stated prosecutor Guro Holm Hansen. It has been almost six years since Anne-Elisabeth vanished, on October 31, 2018. Following a ransom demand that involved cryptocurrencies, Tom was initially arrested on suspicion of murder or complicity, which later shifted to serious deprivation of liberty.
Authorities believe there are people who possess crucial information about the case, and they are hopeful these individuals will come forward. The ongoing inquiry includes examining individuals and environments connected to the case, particularly focusing on cryptocurrency.
Two of the three remaining accused are related to identity theft incidents, one of which affected Ole Henrik Golf in 2013. The case remains complex, with multiple suspects and a continuing police investigation into the mysterious disappearance of Anne-Elisabeth Hagen. Justice Minister Emilie Mehl has also commented on the impact of the case, highlighting the emotional toll on many involved and expressing hope for eventual clarity on what happened.
