The Tornio Hotel in Tampere is set to expand with the addition of a second tower. This new structure will be built next to the existing hotel and will incorporate the historic locomotive sheds. The project is spearheaded by the S-Group’s hotel company, Sokotel, and the pension insurance company Elo, in collaboration with the city of Tampere.

According to preliminary plans, construction could commence as early as 2027. The new development is expected to feature around 300 guest rooms, dining options, and extensive event and meeting facilities. Once completed, the hotel complex could accommodate over 2,000 guests.

The area surrounding the locomotive sheds is part of a larger district designated for high-rise buildings in Tampere’s master plan. Updates on the project will be provided as they become available.
