Left Party faces backlash over anti-Semitic remarks in Sweden
During the summer, reports revealed that several local representatives of the Left Party (Vänsterpartiet) expressed anti-Semitic views and praised organizations labeled as terrorist both on social media and at pro-Palestinian demonstrations. Aron Verständig, the chairman of the Jewish Central Council, stated that for many years, they have maintained a policy of not inviting the Sweden Democrats to events. He noted that they have now adopted the same stance regarding the Left Party, citing a similarity in their failure to address antisemitism within their ranks.
The chairman emphasized that both parties have not adequately dealt with the issue of antisemitism. The situation continues to develop.
