Høgni Hoydal, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, is attending a meeting today with defense ministers from NATO countries.

Defense ministers from all NATO nations are gathering in Brussels for a discussion focused on the security of the Arctic region, also referred to as the Northern Area. The meeting sees representation from all Nordic countries as well as the United States and Canada, with the Faroe Islands and Greenland also taking part.

Canada, in coordination with Denmark, has invited the Faroe Islands and Greenland to this meeting, which commenced earlier today.

Two weeks ago, Høgni Hoydal visited Canada, where he met with foreign ministers from various NATO countries. However, that meeting was not organized by NATO, although the interests discussed were aligned with today’s agenda.

More information will be provided in the evening news broadcast.
