Only 16 percent of newly graduated primary school teachers feel that their training has adequately prepared them to maintain order in the classroom and create a conducive learning environment, according to a recent survey. Fanny, a teacher student in Linköping’s subject teacher program, is among those who have the opportunity to practice in real-life classroom situations. An expert controls virtual students from behind the scenes.

“It feels like you have a class. It was very good practice,” she remarked.

This innovative training method aims to equip future educators with essential skills to handle classroom discipline effectively.

Recent challenges in schools indicate that disruptions are widespread, with one in four students reporting daily disturbances in their learning environment. Educators are facing significant obstacles in managing these issues, leading to calls for improvements in teaching practices.

Despite the ongoing challenges, programs like Fanny’s provide valuable experiences for aspiring teachers, helping them gain confidence and skills to address classroom management effectively.
