More surgeons will be qualified to perform operations related to brain hemorrhages caused by head injuries in the Faroe Islands. This will be made possible through the use of so-called smart glasses, which the National Hospital plans to implement next year.

Surgeons at the National Hospital will wear smart glasses equipped with video cameras and microphones. These allow doctors at the National University Hospital of Denmark to see and hear what is happening in the operating room in the Faroe Islands, enabling them to provide guidance and assistance during the surgery.

“Although these smart glasses are new to the Faroese healthcare system, patients can feel confident undergoing surgery when these glasses are being used,” stated Elinborg Mortensen, the chief surgeon at the National Hospital.
