Þórdís Kolbrún Reykfjörð Gylfadóttir, the Vice Chair of Iceland’s Independence Party, has announced her candidacy for the second spot on the party’s list in the Southwest Constituency for the upcoming parliamentary elections scheduled for November 30. She shared this decision on social media.
In the previous elections, Þórdís Kolbrún led the party’s list in the Northwest Constituency. Currently, Bjarni Benediktsson, the party leader, heads the list for the Southwest Constituency, while Jón Gunnarsson, the former Minister of Justice, held the second position in the last election, with Bryndís Haraldsdóttir as the third.
This announcement comes as political maneuvering intensifies ahead of the elections, highlighting the shifting dynamics within the Independence Party and its strategy for securing seats in the upcoming legislature.
