Authorities investigate fatal traffic accident involving bus and cyclist in Närpiö

Authorities are investigating a traffic accident that occurred on Tuesday evening in Närpiö, which is classified as a hazard to road safety and potential manslaughter. The incident involved a bus colliding with a cyclist who was traveling in the same direction and on the same side of the road as the bus.

The cyclist sustained severe injuries and was transported by ambulance to Vaasa Central Hospital, where he later passed away. The accident took place on Vaasantie, between Pirttikylä and Närpiö, where the speed limit is set at 80 kilometers per hour. The bus was en route from Vaasa to Närpiö and had several passengers onboard. Fortunately, neither the passengers nor the bus driver were injured in the collision.

The road was closed to traffic for about an hour while authorities managed the scene, and a detour was established for drivers.
