In Flen, known for its northernmost vineyards, Swedish Pet Nat is crafted. Winemaker Josefin Lagerhorn describes Blacksta Vineyard, located just outside Flen, as “Flen’s Tuscany.”

Currently, there are 45 commercial vineyards in Sweden that grow their own grapes, with seven out of ten situated in Skåne. The area dedicated to wine cultivation spans approximately 160 hectares, but Sweden’s Agricultural University estimates that this could be expanded to between 2,000 and 3,000 hectares.

Twenty grape varieties are cultivated in Sweden, with Solaris leading in production, alongside notable wines such as Pinot Noir, Merlot, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc. Swedish wines have found international markets, being exported to countries like Japan, Singapore, Italy, France, Norway, and Hong Kong.

The grape harvest has seen significant growth, increasing from 155 tons in 2020 to 304 tons in 2023.
