Metsä Fibre initiates arbitration against Valmet over Kemi bioproduct mill dispute

Metsä Fibre, a subsidiary of the Metsä Group, has initiated arbitration proceedings against Valmet Technologies, a part of Valmet. The dispute pertains to Metsä Fibre’s Kemi bioproduct mill. In a statement, Valmet asserts that it considers Metsä Fibre’s claims to be unfounded. According to Valmet, the preliminary amount of Metsä Fibre’s claims is set at €47 million. Metsä Fibre is seeking a determination that Valmet could be held liable for potential future liabilities, which are estimated to be around €65 million.
