Þórarinn Eyfjörð has resigned from his position as chairman of the trade union Sameyki. A statement from the union indicates that there has been disagreement between the chairman and the board regarding focus and direction in the union’s projects.

Recently, Þórarinn served as the vice-chairman of BSRB, but lost in an election to Fjölnir Sæmundsson, the chairman of the National Police Union, at the BSRB congress last weekend. According to reports, significant communication issues have affected the operations of Sameyki, and these challenges were openly discussed at the BSRB congress.

Ingibjörg Sif Sigríðardóttir, who has served as the vice-chairman of Sameyki, will replace Þórarinn as chairman.
