Traffic accident involving truck and passenger car near Hólar in Kelduhverfi results in injuries

An serious traffic accident occurred today around 4:00 PM on the Northeastern Road, which connects Ásbyrgis and Kópasker, involving a collision between a truck and a passenger car. The incident took place near the town of Hólar in Kelduhverfi.
According to the local police, two individuals were injured and transported from the scene. One was airlifted by the Coast Guard helicopter to Akureyri Hospital for treatment, while the other was taken by ambulance flight from Húsavík to Landspítali in Reykjavík for further care.
The Northeast Road 85 remains closed, likely until 10:00 PM this evening, as reported by the Road Administration. Alternative access is available via Dettifoss Road 862; however, it is partially snow-covered and narrow in sections.
