Prime Minister defends US involvement in NATO, citing strong unity and defense commitments
There is no reason why the United States should withdraw from NATO, according to the Prime Minister. He stated that during the NATO leaders’ summit, discussions centered around the fact that the alliance has never been stronger, contributions to defense have never been greater, the number of member countries is at its peak, and unity among them is at an all-time high.
The Prime Minister also mentioned that there was significant consensus among the countries regarding support for Ukraine and that it was a pleasure to attend the summit with leaders from all Nordic countries for the first time. He questioned why on earth the Americans would want to abandon or weaken a defense alliance that is about defending values that are under threat worldwide.
“The alliance is about peace and democratic values, freedom, the right of nations to self-determination. I see absolutely no reason for the Americans to undermine these values,” he stated.
