There will be no special needs class in Sørvági, despite the local school applying for one. The principal of Sørvágs School expressed disappointment over the situation, highlighting that while they do not meet the required number of students, they do have pupils in need of additional support.
Three special needs classes will be available this year: one at Runavik School, one at Eysturskúlin in the capital, Tórshavn, and a new collaborative class between Fuglafjordur Municipality and Eystur Municipality.
Jacob Eli S. Olsen, chairman of the Teachers’ Association of the Faroe Islands, stated that three special needs classes are insufficient.
