Hurricane Kirk weakens after crossing Atlantic, weather alerts remain in effect across Sweden
Hurricane Kirk was initially categorized as a Category 4 storm as it crossed the Atlantic, but it quickly lost strength upon reaching Europe. Despite this, multiple warnings were issued, and the fire department in the Greater Stockholm area advised residents to work from home. However, these recommendations were retracted on Wednesday.
“This is not a hurricane; it’s just an ordinary autumn event,” stated meteorologist Tora Tomasdottir.
Weather alerts remain in effect as the remnants of Kirk continue to impact regions including Sweden. In Stockholm, the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI) has issued warnings for heavy rainfall.
As the storm dissipates, the focus now shifts to potential disruptions caused by adverse weather conditions across the region.
