The Oulu District Court is set to begin proceedings today concerning a homicide that was uncovered in Oulu in June. An adult man from Oulu was fatally stabbed on Sellukatu in Meri-Toppila on June 13. He succumbed to his injuries. A 28-year-old man has been charged in connection with the incident and was arrested shortly after it occurred. The prosecutor is seeking a conviction for manslaughter.
Initially, the police also suspected a woman born in 1987 in relation to the homicide, but she was cleared of suspicion during the early stages of the investigation. However, law enforcement indicated that they are still looking into her and another man regarding drug-related offenses. According to police, the motive for the homicide is believed to be connected to drugs.
The court proceedings are scheduled to start at 9 AM, with the man accused of manslaughter appearing in court from pre-trial detention. He has been in custody since June 17. A local news outlet is on-site to cover the beginning of the trial, and updates are expected to follow.
